Important Books to Read
All these books are must reads. They are all well written and give you the information you need to make better informed choices about how you interact with our everyday chemical environment.
But if pushed for time, if there are two books that you should read (couldn't commit to only one) then I would recommend Silent Spring (Rachel Carsons passion for the topic is apparent on every page) and the Estrogen Effect (puts everything in a nutshell without over complicating the issues).

Author: Deborah Cadbury
A very well written book detailing the research and discoveries relating to endocrine disruptors. It is a well balanced book that succintly covers the major issues concerning estrogen mimics.
Title: Silent Spring
Author: Rachel Carson
Compulsory reading for anyone concerned about the environment and their well been. The book that started it all. Passionately written and still very relevant to the issues of today.
Title: Our Stolen Future: Are we threatening our Fertility, Intellgence and Survival?
Author: Theo Colburn
Discusses all areas of environmental health. A more current version of Silent Spring. Clear, well put together and concise. If you are concerned about the state of the environment, this is the book for you.
Title: The Toxic Consumer: How to reduce your exposure to everyday toxic chemicals
Author: Karen Ashton
Gives details of the chemicals present in our everyday environment. It tells you what products to watct out for, the effects the chemicals have on your health and possible ways to avoid them. An essential read.
Title: Skin Deep: The essential guide to what's in the toiletries and cosmetics you us
Author: Pat Thomas
Do you really know what you use to wash your face? Not many people really know about the chemicals they use to do everyday things. This book details how some of these chemicals rapidly enters our bloodstrean through our skin. An interesting but sometimes shocking book.
